The Malawi Tourism Industry Awards serve as a prominent platform to celebrate and acknowledge outstanding contributions and achievements within the Malawi tourism and hospitality sector through different categories of excellence. They aim to recognize, reward, and inspire excellence among individuals, organizations, and destinations that play a vital role in the nation’s tourism industry.
Nominees and winners include individuals, small enterprises, destinations/attractions, organizations, entrepreneurs, Travel Tourism and Hospitality enterprises.
Requirements of entry process:
- Nominees and winners encompass individuals, small enterprises, companies, destinations, hotel groups, organizations, and entrepreneurs who are members of Malawi Tourism Council and Allied partners.
- Nominees must Fulfil MTC's agreed-upon requirements, including active membership, holding a Tourism Operating License, and Paying Tourism Levies.
- Nominees must demonstrate outstanding projects or initiatives, consistent achievements over a minimum of two years, and sustainability in economic, environmental, and social impacts.
- Innovation in entrepreneurship and technology, as well as a commitment to enhancing the competitiveness of the Malawi tourism industry service delivery is an essential criterion.
- Nominees demonstrate the sustainability of their operations in terms of the economic, environment and social impact to community (environmentally sensitive, ethical in their operations, inclusive in their workforce training engagement).
- A panel of independent judges (5) (Not direct owner of any tourism entity or business) selected to select nominees in each category. Based on criteria that reward the best performance within the sector, desk longlist done by MTC and The Department of Tourism, then the jury selection of the shortlist which then public voting evaluates the winners.
